ABOUT THE PROJECT

PesaDART is the first Polish Intercity-class electric multiple unit. Thanks to appropriately selected materials and design solutions, it provides comfortable travel conditions. These single-space trains allowing travel in both directions. PesaDART is one of the models produced by PESA Bydgoszcz S.A., whose more than 170-year history combines tradition with modernity, ecology and unique design. The company’s trains are already carrying passengers in Italy, Germany, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Hungary and even Ghana, among others!

WHAT NEEDS DOES THE INNOVATION ADDRESS?

PesaDART’s combination of innovative design, comfort and advanced technology sets it apart from the competition. The train won the prestigious iF Design Award, where it was recognized for optimizing cost versus quality, economy and functionality – especially on lines with high station density. The modern, eco-friendly design and modular interiors allow for quick interior adaptation and reduced operating costs. Travelers can count on exceptional comfort thanks to a single-height floor, which facilitates mobility, especially for people with disabilities.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES

PesaDART offers ergonomic and spacious interiors, providing comfort in both first and second class. In addition, factory-installed cell phone signal boosters and Wi-Fi enhance internet accessibility on the go. Safety is a priority. PesaDART’s specially designed driver’s cabin and reinforced structure minimize the effects of potential collisions. A key component of the impact energy absorption system is the “honey comb” structure. Thanks to this structure, crash energy is effectively dissipated, reducing damage and increasing passenger and operator safety. Additional protection is provided by an energy absorber system and a scraper mounted under the cabin to prevent any elements from getting under the wheels of the vehicle. Ecology also plays a key role – at least 80% of the materials used in production are recyclable, making PesaDART an environmentally sustainable choice for rail transportation.
