ABOUT THE PROJECT

Galmet is a Polish family company from Głubczyce that has been designing and manufacturing devices for heating, cooling, and domestic hot water preparation for years. From a one-person workshop, it has grown into an enterprise employing nearly 600 specialists.

Galmet creates not only individual devices but complete systems combining heat pumps, hot water storage tanks, solar collectors, ventilation, and intelligent control. This allows one Polish manufacturer to supply most of the components needed for heating, cooling, and ventilation of an entire building.

One of the company’s latest innovations is the Hybrid Ventilation System for Schools. The solution combines ventilation, heat recovery, heating, and cooling into one automatically controlled system. Sensors continuously monitor temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide levels, and air pollution in classrooms. The system recovers up to 87% of thermal energy and automatically increases the fresh air supply when conditions in the classroom deteriorate. The project was developed as part of a research and development program initiated by the National Centre for Research and Development.

WHAT NEEDS DOES THE INNOVATION ADDRESS?

In many schools, air quality still primarily depends on opening windows. In winter, this means heat loss, and in summer, it doesn’t solve the problem of overheated rooms. Rising carbon dioxide concentrations can also cause fatigue and make it difficult for students to concentrate. The Galmet system automatically adjusts the ventilation intensity to the number of people and conditions in the room. It supplies fresh, filtered air, removes excess carbon dioxide, and simultaneously heats rooms in winter and cools them in summer. The solution can be installed in both new schools and modernized buildings.
The company also addresses the problem of complex and space-consuming home installations. The GT160 hydraulic cabinet is a factory-assembled heating center that combines a hot water tank, a heat storage unit, and elements securing the pump’s operation. It replaces a large part of a traditional boiler room, speeds up installation, and reduces the risk of incorrect device connections.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES

Galmet’s greatest strength is its ability to independently design and produce entire heating systems. The company develops its own heat pumps, tanks, buffers, solar collectors, and ventilation systems, ensuring that individual devices are designed from the outset to work together.

Galmet also develops compact solutions for homes where there is no space for a large boiler room. The Tower Grand TOP 160 tank is less than a meter high, can be placed against a wall or in a corner, and despite its small size, provides hot water for a family of three or four people.

Galmet demonstrates that a modern building energy system – from heat pumps to intelligent ventilation – can be designed and manufactured by one Polish company.
