There is an energy, potential and creativity in us that can outpace the world. But there’s also something that still holds us back: we too rarely speak out loud about what we’ve accomplished. And that’s why today – June 24, the Day of Hugs – we are launching the “Hug Some Pride” campaign. And we strongly encourage you to participate!
Data don’t lie – we can do more than we think
According to the research we conducted as part of the We Did It In Poland campaign, it is clear that 72% of Poles believe that we have great development potential. But at the same time, as many as 69% of Poles believe that we can only act together… in spurts. It’s as if we were a national spark – we burst with energy and then wait for the next opportunity.
What else does the data say? As many as 60% of us declare that we are simply proud of ourselves – and that already sounds like a small revolution. 57% point to their level of education as a reason to be proud, and 51% point to their career trajectory. Quite a few, 31%, value their involvement in social activities, which shows that more and more of us are thinking not only about ourselves, but also about our impact on our surroundings. Also appearing among the reasons for personal pride are resourcefulness (11%) and concrete achievements (10%) – from overcoming difficulties, to creating something of value, to everyday victories. However, the most common reasons for pride are our children and family – they win out over professional success or material possessions, which, interestingly, are at the bottom of the list.
We did it in Poland
We are proud of our national identity (25%) and heritage (22%). But when asked about the achievements of modern Poland, here the indications are far fewer. This is not because they are not there. On the contrary – they are there, we just talk about them too rarely.
And yet Poles are creating revolutionary medical solutions, technologies of the future, space inventions, companies exporting know-how to five continents.
So let’s say it together: We did it in Poland. And we do it every day – locally, globally, simply…. with pride.
Hug some pride
We are launching a public awareness campaign of which you are an important part… YOU!
We encourage you to:
- Recording the roll or publishing the publication on social media,
- Tell us about what delights you, what you are dumn_ of, what wonderful things you see in Poland!
Answer three questions:
- What impresses you about Poland? What brand, innovation, solution?
- What have you created_and of what are you dumn_?
- What characteristic of Poles inspires you?
And don’t keep this pride to yourself! Tag 2-3 people who should join the action! Make the chain as long as possible! After all, we have something to brag about.
If you’re looking for inspiration, take a look at www.wediditinpoland.eu, where we collect daily evidence that Poland is a country of inventive people with a mission.
Narrative matters
In a world full of crises and divisions, we need a new story about Poland. Not only the romantic, historical one, but above all a modern, creative and innovative one.
We don’t have to have complexes. We are competent.
We don’t have to look only backwards. We are creating the future.
Join us. Show that we #DidThisPoland! And that we are proud of it!
