Polish technology, world-class. Companies that represent us

The We Did It Poland campaign promotes the achievements of Polish companies and experts who, thanks to modern technologies, are setting new standards in IT, transforming the market not only domestically, but also internationally. The Polish technological revolution is a story of passion, innovation and cooperation on a global scale.

Poland as a world leader in the technology industry

Contrary to popular belief, Poland is highly developed in the technology industry. Many companies are setting ambitious goals – and successfully achieving them. The We Did It In Poland campaign promotes the achievements of Polish companies and experts who are setting new standards in IT in Poland. Today, a small fraction of the Polish public sees these changes and developments, which – thanks to the companies featured below – allow our country to keep up with global trends, or even stay ahead of them. This needs to change, as there is much to be proud of.

Companies shaping the future of Polish technology

At the forefront of this technological revolution are companies that successfully combine tradition with modernity. Prominent among them are such brands as Blik, Booksy, CD Projekt RED, Synerise, inStreamly, Payeye, LiveChat Software or Allegro. Polish innovations are also present in the global businesses of companies such as Mastercard.

CD Projekt RED. Gaming giant

CD Projekt RED is one of the most successful Polish companies in the gaming industry. Almost every gamer in the world is familiar with “The Witcher” and “Cyberpunk 2077,” although not everyone knows the publisher from the Vistula River.

The first part of “The Witcher,” despite initial doubts, sold 35,000 copies in Poland in three days. This allowed the studio to develop further. “The Witcher II: Assassins of Kings” confirmed CD Projekt’s position as a game developer, reaching sales of 2 million copies within a year. The biggest success, however, was “The Witcher III: Wild Gon.” In six weeks it sold more than 6 million copies and won more than 300 awards. Today, this game is considered one of the best games ever.

LiveChat Software. Communication in Polish

LiveChat Software, now known as Text S.A., was founded in 2002 as Livechat Ltd. The founders were Mariusz Ciepły, Jakub Sitarz and Maciej Jarzębowski. In 2014, LiveChat Software debuted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, which brought it additional funds for development. 2018 saw the company expand its offerings with new tools such as ChatBot, HelpDesk and KnowledgeBase. In 2022, it introduced OpenWidget, and at the end of the same year purchased the text.com domain. In September 2023, the company changed its name to Text S.A.

The company has become one of the world’s largest providers of customer service software, with a market share of 7% and third position globally.

The Text Group reported cumulative revenue of PLN 265.2 million and net profit of PLN 127.6 million after three quarters of the 2024/25 fiscal year. This represents an increase of 5.2 percent and a decrease of 0.7 percent, respectively.

Allegro. Polish eBay

Another highly successful company is Allegro, our great e-commerce success story, with a history dating back to 1999. It was founded in Poznan as a Polish version of eBay, inspired by Dutchman Arjan Bakker. Initially, Allegro operated in a small basement, and the first auction was a USB camera.

It has also built a network of One Box parcel vending machines, facilitating parcel delivery. Allegro is the strongest and most recommended brand in Poland, with more than 20 million users. The platform supports the growth of both small and large companies, such as EcoToys, which has significantly increased its business through sales on Allegro.

inStreamly. Stream for Business

A relatively young company, two decades younger than Allegro, is the significantly successful streaming and influencer marketing brand inStreamly. It was established in 2019 by Maciej Sawicki, Damian Konopka, Szymon Kubiak and Wiktoria Wojcia. It was created as a platform to connect brands with live content creators. In a few years, the company has expanded into 12 markets, working with more than 111,000 players and executing campaigns for 232 brands. Also in the area of artificial intelligence, Poland provides companies worth boasting about. Before AI went under the roof, it was handled by Synerise, a Krakow-based company. It was founded in 2013 and quickly became one of the largest big data platforms in Europe. The company received $8.5 million in investment from VTEX, listed on the NYSE, and angel investors, including Marcin Zhukowski, co-founder of Snowflake. Water Sense is a state-of-the-art water quality monitoring system developed by Magly engineers in cooperation with Warsaw University of Technology, CEZAMAT-PW, IMGW-PIB and Nebucode. It was developed in response to the problem of the poor condition of Polish rivers, more than 99% of which are polluted. In June 2024, it won first place in the Idea Challenge competition as the best business idea at the Carpathian Startup Fest. It also received funding of PLN 22.2 million under NCBR’s Hydrostrateg II program. S

The system uses autonomous measuring stations and IoT to monitor water quality in real time. Using artificial intelligence, it predicts physical and chemical parameters of rivers 72 hours ahead, helping to protect ecosystems and prevent environmental disasters.

BLIK. When cooperation pays off

An example of how Poles can delight the technological world is BLIK. Launched in February 2015 as a joint project of Poland’s six largest banks, today BLIK is operated by the Polish Payments Standard (PSP) company, in which Mastercard is also a shareholder. The system is used by more than 13 million active users, and more than 1.2 billion transactions were completed in 2022, of which 371 million fell in the fourth quarter. The brand enjoys great recognition among 95% of Poles – and for more than half of them it is the first association when making cashless payments.

An eye on fintech. PayEye

PayEye is a Polish fintech company founded in 2019 by Daniel Jarzab and Radoslaw Ruda. The idea for biometric payments was conceived in 2018, when the founders didn’t have their wallets with them during lunch. In 2019, PayEye received a license from the FSC, and in 2020 launched the world’s first commercial iris biometric payment service. The first transaction took place in Wroclaw, Poland.

It is worth mentioning that Poles are contributing to the development of innovative projects for global brands. Mastercard and its partners have launched a pilot of biometric payments in Poland based on the fusion of iris and facial biometrics. It allows consumers to test paying for purchases with a glance. This is the first pilot in Europe of the Mastercard Biometric Checkout Program, which, by introducing a technological framework, is helping to set the standard for new ways to pay by allowing cardholders to use a wide range of biometric payment authentication methods, such as fingerprint, palm, face and iris scans.

Poland has a bright future in the technology industry, but it is important to highlight the industries that are helping its development, and to make Polish society aware of our country’s potential. Thanks to companies such as Blik, Booksy, CD Projekt RED, Synerise, inStreamly, Payeye, LiveChat Software and Allegro, Poland is becoming a global leader in the technology industry.
