Polish innovation on the offensive: from space to medicine – new technologies in the We Did It In Poland campaign

AIRPORT GTS

The Airport GTS system is a state-of-the-art ground traffic surveillance and security support system developed for Warsaw Chopin Airport. The project was initiated by Polskie Porty Lotnicze S.A. (Polish Airports). It enables real-time visualization, localization and identification of objects in the maneuvering field. This is all thanks to the integration of data from various surveillance sources and the use of a multi-radar tracker. It includes safety functions, monitors runways and restricted areas. It also detects potential conflicts between objects as part of RMCA (Runway Monitoring and Conflict Alerting) alerting.

This project proves that in a world of advanced technology and process automation, dialogue, collaboration and understanding of each other’s needs are still crucial to implementing complex systems.

KP LABS

Modern space missions are generating ever-increasing amounts of data, and transmitting it to Earth involves delays, costs and the risk of information loss. The Smart Mission Ecosystem developed by KP Labs enables data processing directly on the satellite, speeding up response to events and reducing bandwidth requirements. With Smart Mission Lab, users can remotely test computing units and choose the right configuration for their mission.

The Smart Mission Ecosystem integrates hardware, software and algorithms into a single cohesive system, eliminating the need to independently integrate components from different vendors. With the Smart Mission Lab platform, rapid and remote testing of computing units is possible.

Nomagic intelligent robots

Nomagic is a Polish company that develops robots supported by artificial intelligence to automate various warehouse processes, such as order picking. Nomagic robots are unique on the market, thanks to the use of advanced artificial intelligence algorithms. They make it possible to identify and lift a variety of objects (even those that the robot has not previously encountered). They can also accurately place jew boxes or baskets, and even detect their own errors. The robots are also characterized by their versatility, being able to lift a wide variety of objects, such as clothes, cosmetics or boxes of electronics.

CoolCryo®

CoolCryo® is a cardiac cryoablation system based on liquid nitrogen as a cooling medium. Liquid nitrogen is the commonly used and cheapest cooling medium, and its use significantly reduces the cost of surgery. With a heated and moldable tip, procedures are performed faster. The entire system, together with the cryoapplicator, is ultimately intended for minimally invasive full-thickness cardiac cryoablation. Surgical ablation is used to treat cardiac arrhythmias.

Arrhythmia is a heart rhythm disorder and one of the most common complaints of patients presenting to cardiology offices. Its occurrence, depending on the type, can lead to circulatory failure and significantly increases the risk of stroke.

FEYENALLY

Feyenally has developed the eyeTEST app, the world’s first solution for objective eye refraction testing using only a smartphone. By using advanced AI algorithms and analyzing eye images, users can self-check for vision defects (e.g. nearsightedness, farsightedness) without a specialist. This scalable, low-cost and globally available tool addresses the growing need for remote eye care.

Feyenally’s innovation addresses the global problem of lack of access to basic eye care – more than 1 billion people lack the opportunity for an eye exam, and 670 million are at risk of losing their vision due to uncorrected refractive errors.

What do a bridge team, chemistry Olympians, math champions and a brilliant programmer who defeated artificial intelligence have in common? Poland! At a time when the world measures success by gigabytes of data and global reach, they remind us that greatness can grow in silence, in the training room, in a school laboratory or in an academic auditorium. And the roots of that greatness are deeply rooted in Polish soil.

Only 3 percent of Poles point to technological achievements as a source of pride . One in four respondents cannot point to any aspect that Poland can boast about.
