ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Cashless Poland Foundation was established in 2017 to support the development of cashless forms of payment in Poland, in particular by expanding the network of acceptance of payment instruments, popularizing and promoting cashless trading among citizens, increasing the convenience and security of transactions. The Foundation has invested more than PLN 1 billion in the development of modern payment infrastructure in Poland and support for entrepreneurs in the small and medium-sized business sector. More than 500,000 micro businesses have received a payment terminal from the cashless Poland program implemented by the Foundation. Its activities are an example of effective and inclusive economic policy.

WHAT NEEDS DOES THE INNOVATION ADDRESS?

The Cashless Poland Foundation is actively transforming the Polish payments market and supporting entrepreneurship. The modern world requires modern, secure and accessible payment tools that keep up with the pace of life and digitization of services. Poland Without Cash Foundation perfectly reads these needs, introducing real changes in the daily functioning of citizens, entrepreneurs and public institutions.

Thanks to the Foundation’s investments:
– the share of cashless payments in stores and service points in Poland has increased from 43% in 2017 to more than 69% in 2024.

– 100% of payment terminals in Poland today allow contactless payment by card, phone, watch

– Digitization of services has entered the public space. Cashless payments have become possible at self-service service points, such as ticket machines, car washes, parking meters and toll meters, making everyday activities easier for millions of Poles,

– groundbreaking innovations such as the smartphone terminal and Click to Pay online card payments are being developed that are changing the way micro-entrepreneurs pay online and do business

– Polish women and men can quickly and conveniently pay online in systems such as mCitizen, e-Tax Office or on local government platforms. Thanks to the Foundation’s activities, Poland has risen from 16th to 7th place in Europe in terms of the number of payment terminals per 1,000 residents.

The Cashless Poland Foundation is a unique collaboration of banks, clearing agents, payment organizations and the state, which is changing the face of the payments ecosystem in Poland. It is distinguished from other initiatives by its scale of action and systemic approach to the digitization of financial trading.

Cashless Poland Foundation:
– It reaches both large cities and the smallest municipalities. Its Program is available to micro-entrepreneurs, regardless of location or scale of business.

– Under the Cashless Poland Program, entrepreneurs can receive funding for a selected tool: payment terminal, smartphone terminal, and payment gateway for an online store

– Supports the development of a cashless payment system in public administration and cooperates on Smart City projects,

– implements payments in modern devices: EV chargers, datacom, recyclers and self-service devices, thus responding to the needs of modern society.
