ASTROTEQ.AI
Artificial intelligence-based earthquake forecasting system

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Astroteq.ai is developing an artificial intelligence-based earthquake forecasting system that can generate forecasts 14, 5, 3 and 1 days before an earthquake occurs. Current warning systems inform of a shock only 12 seconds before it occurs, which does not allow for adequate preparation. The Astroteq.ai system uses a wide range of data, including seismological, cosmic ray, satellite, meteorological and geophysical information, to identify signals indicating impending earthquakes. The first version of the system was built using 19 years of historical data from 300 cosmic ray data stations deployed in Albania, Turkey, Japan and Chile.

WHAT NEEDS DOES THE INNOVATION ADDRESS?

Earthquakes are devastating natural disasters that humanity has been dealing with for years. The ability to predict earthquakes has been sought after for decades. Events such as the 2010 Haiti earthquake (225,570 deaths, more than 300,000 injured, $7-8 billion in losses) demonstrate the importance of continuing efforts to predict the effects of earthquakes. Earlier warnings can save thousands of lives, allowing evacuation to safe zones, securing property and protecting infrastructure from damage. Identifying impending earthquakes can significantly reduce false alarms and increase public confidence.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES

In detection systems, the warning time is limited to a maximum of 12 seconds before an aftershock, while Astroteq.ai technology can forecast earthquakes up to 14 days in advance. Astroteq.ai uses advanced analysis of data from cosmic rays, SAR radar and other satellite sources, allowing for effective forecasting at a lower cost. With Astroteq.ai, users have the ability to prepare for threats in advance, which can significantly minimize losses and increase security.
