Rebread specializes in technology to transform surplus bread into innovative products, supporting a closed loop economy and reducing food waste in the European market in the B2B2C sector. One of Rebread’s main innovative activities is the development and commercialization of technology to transform surplus bread from production and retail into high-margin, health-promoting Krast beverages.

WHAT NEEDS DOES THE INNOVATION ADDRESS?

Rebread’s innovation addresses the pressing problem of bread waste – as much as 5 mil tons per year in Europe alone! In the face of dwindling environmental resources and growing environmental awareness, our upcycling technologies are an important part of a resilient circular economy.

We are transforming surplus bread into a valuable raw material rich in nutritional value, while responding to growing consumer demand for healthy drinks with reduced sugar content. We are solving the waste problem by creating sustainable and valuable products.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES

Rebread’s innovation involves the unique processing of unsold bread to produce pro- and post-biotic beverages. Products based on Rebread’s technology combine taste with health-promoting qualities (vitamins, probiotics) and are suitable for people with lactose intolerance and on plant-based diets.

Production uses existing industrial solutions on the European market, and the drink can be widely available on store shelves and in the bakery’s own sales. Krast is also a sustainable alternative to sugary sodas, responding to growing consumer demand for healthy foods.
