ABOUT THE PROJECT

ML System is a Polish technology company specializing in building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) solutions. This technology allows architectural elements – such as facades, roofs, glazing, or sunshades – to function simultaneously as building materials and electricity-generating surfaces. The company develops, among others, photovoltaic facades, insulated glazing units, blinds, canopies, and PhotonRoof tiles. This means that a photovoltaic installation does not have to be an additional element mounted on a building, but can be directly integrated into its structure and appearance.

ML System also has its own R facilities and develops specialized glass technologies and solutions using quantum coatings. According to company information, it holds 20 patents, with further solutions currently undergoing patent application.

WHAT NEEDS DOES THE INNOVATION ADDRESS?

Buildings are increasingly expected not only to consume less energy but also to produce it on-site. At the same time, classic photovoltaic modules cannot always be easily applied to roofs or facades, especially where architectural requirements, limited space, or the appearance of the building are critical.

BIPV technology addresses this challenge by combining the functions of a building material and an energy source. Instead of installing an additional system on a finished facade or roof, a photovoltaic element can replace traditional glass, facade cladding, or roofing.

Such solutions can be used in both new buildings and during the modernization of existing structures, increasing the building’s surface area that can be used for local energy production.

A significant aspect of the company’s operations is its own technological and research facilities. ML System has an R center and a patent portfolio, and the development of new products includes both BIPV technologies and advanced glass-related solutions.
