CoolCryo®

CoolCryo®
Technological breakthrough in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias

ABOUT THE PROJECT

CoolCryo® is a cardiac cryoablation system based on liquid nitrogen as a cooling medium. Liquid nitrogen is the commonly used and cheapest cooling medium, and its use significantly reduces the cost of surgery. With a heated and moldable tip, procedures are performed faster. The entire system, together with the cryoapplicator, is ultimately intended for minimally invasive full-thickness cardiac cryoablation. Surgical ablation is used to treat cardiac arrhythmias.

WHAT NEEDS DOES THE INNOVATION ADDRESS?

Arrhythmia is a heart rhythm disorder and one of the most common complaints of patients presenting to cardiology offices. Its occurrence, depending on the type, can lead to circulatory failure and significantly increases the risk of stroke.

Ablation is a recommended treatment for cardiac arrhythmias. It is a percutaneous cardiac procedure that aims to isolate the area of heart tissue responsible for the formation of arrhythmias. The procedure involves the creation of a small scar that blocks the conduction of electrical impulses that induce arrhythmias.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES

– 4 times faster and more efficient ablation,

– possibility of minimally invasive endoscopic surgery,

– possibility of active and continuous cryoablation and defrosting,

– possibility of full-walled ablation of even thick tissues,

– cheaper and more efficient cooling medium (liquid nitrogen).
