ABOUT THE PROJECT

BLIK has been active in Poland since 2015 and has revolutionized the payment industry, changing the payment habits of Poles. It has introduced new security standards that combine with convenience, speed and intuitive operation. It is now the national leader in mobile payments, facilitating the daily transactions of more than 18.5 million users. BLIK in Poland today can be used by customers of all banks, through their mobile applications, and use of the solution in 2024 supported the generation of about 1.2% of Poland’s GDP – the amount the Polish state spends on higher education.

WHAT NEEDS DOES THE INNOVATION ADDRESS?

BLIK as a modern mobile payment platform responds to the growing need for fast, convenient and secure transactions in everyday life. It allows payments to be made across all channels – such as stationary and online stores, ATMs and instant transfers to a phone number without entering bank account details. BLIK is also developing contactless payment services at terminals in Poland and abroad, as well as deferred payments and recurring payments.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES

BLIK is distinguished by its comprehensiveness, wide availability and brand recognition among banking application users in Poland at 96%. Among all European systems, BLIK processed the most transactions in 2023 (more than 1.7 billion in 2023 and as many as 2.4 billion in 2024) The system’s dynamic development also includes international expansion – the brand is already active in Slovakia and Romania, and more European markets are planned. In 2023, the National Bank of Poland classified BLIK in the category of “significant retail payment systems,” confirming its impact on the Polish financial system.
